Message from the director:
It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Dr. Isidor Academy. It is my desire that the information provided would give visitors and our potential students up-to-date information on our programs and activities that we are offering in the education of natural perfumery and natural skin care apothecary.
As a director of the Academy, I am committed to providing an environment that promotes excellence in what I consider to be the business and the task of the academy: student development and self-authorship, modern instructional methods and techniques of the 21st century, service to society and scholarly work.

The mission of the academy:
We devote our energy and our competencies solely to one task: teaching and instructing students in design, formulation and production of 100% natural skin care products and natural perfumes based on traditional and ancient apothecary formulas and research results of modern cosmetic science and principles of herbal formulation in cosmetics and skin care products. We believe that everyone should age gracefully and wisely with 100% natural skin care products as our ancestors without using harmful chemicals.
Dr. Isidor Academy has set itself the mission of offering all students and participants in our academy the modern education based on the international educational standards and high professional instructions in the best 100% natural skin care products and perfumes with quality, efficacy and safety.
We strive to preserve and teach students forgotten but healthy and effective apothecary formulas in skin care, cosmetics, perfumes and cosmeceuticals based on 100% natural ingredients of what Mother Nature can offer to humans.
The traditional and ancient apothecary and perfumery art and science meet the modern cosmetic science and principles of herbal formulary at the Dr. Isidor Academy.
The goals of the academy:
1. To develop understanding the concept of natural perfumery and natural skin care products apothecary.
2. To develop skills of observation, interpretation and integration needed to objectively analyze the natural perfume as a masterpiece as well as natural skin care products.
3. To develop skills of objective reasoning and critical thinking in natural perfumery and natural apothecary.
4. To bring own business to one unique and highly professional level based on knowledge of the ancient traditions in perfumery and natural skin care apothecary as well as modern results of research of toxicology, ethnobotany, pharmacognosy and techniques of developing natural aromas as safe and unique products, the masterpieces.

Educational outcomes:
Upon successful completion of every course, the student / participant will be able to apply the knowledge of natural perfumery and apothecary to the design, formulation and final compounding of appropriate and safe natural perfumes and natural skin care products fully harmonized with the nature, a masterpiece.

Instructional methods of academy:
1. Instruction using PowerPoint presentations will be utilized as well as in-class traditional lecturing
2. Intensive discussion sessions are made in every course
3. Active learning methods and techniques are applied in each course such as case studies and hands on sessions are applied with many practical assignments, seminars, projects
4. Course materials are fully available on the online education platform
5. Regular office hours with the instructor via Skype session or via e-mail (3 times per week to satisfy all international students who live in different geographical regions of the world and time differences)
6. Active mentorship and guidance during the course and after the course upon request

Each module in the course includes eight clearly distinguished entities:

Students with Disabilities:
Students with disabilities must inform the Administration of Dr. Isidor Academy of their authenticated disability. Dr. Isidor Academy will then inform the course coordinator that the student will require additional time or accommodations to take the exam or attend/participate in other course functions.

About the director and instructor of Dr. Isidor Academy:
Miroslav Sarac has a master and doctoral degree in biomedical sciences, pathology, six years of postdoctoral fellowship in biomedical sciences and one more doctoral degree in divinity. Additionally, he carries numerous national and international certifications in the healthcare field. He is teaching students at academic – university level since 1989, now over 25 years. During his academic career, he has developed over 20+ different courses for the baccalaureate, master, doctoral and postdoctoral level of education. He was utilized the various instructional methods and techniques from the intensive in-class teaching to modern distance education, online methods and techniques. In his instructional work, he utilizes active learning approach, problem solving and critical thinking and reasoning.
For the past 30 years, he was faithfully studied the ethnology and folklore of the Mediterranean region researching and collecting ancient and traditional apothecary and perfumery formulas and studying ways on how to merge them with our modern way of life. His natural perfumery and apothecary is performed by using knowledge, skills, and accumulated 30+ years of laboratory experience in synthesis, formulation, and design, and he would add a lot of imagination, creativity, symbolism, and artistic skills.
Currently, Dr. Sarac is a retired university professor due to severe disability.

Our programs:
Currently, Dr. Isidor Academy is organized in three schools:

2. School of Natural Skin Care Products Formulation
3. School of Continuing Education

The School of Natural Perfumery

Currently is offering several courses:

Introductory course in Natural Perfumery – 14-week course; brief outlines: introduction to natural perfumery, supplies and materials and resources for natural perfumery, safety and hazards in the workshop for natural perfumery, safety regulations and rules, botanical and other natural extracts, oils and infusions, materials, design and formulation of natural perfumes, evaluating natural perfumery materials, natural raw materials in perfumery, journaling and database in natural perfumery, conceptualization of the natural perfume, correction of the primary formula and final compounding, psychology of perfume use, cultural competency in natural perfumery for signature orders, critical thinking, making fragrant infusions, making natural perfume, making signature product, making the first masterpiece, introduction to advanced natural perfumery.
Course pre-requisites:
Knowledge of elementary chemistry, biology, botany
Personal statement why do you like natural perfumery compared with perfumery compounding by synthetic ingredients (no more than 2000 words)
Student evaluation:
Unit exam (4 unit exams x 50 points = 200 points)
Assignment (4 assignments x 150 points = 600 points
Comprehensive final exam (1 exam x 200 points = 200 points)
Total: 1000 points

Advanced course in Natural Perfumery – 13-week course; brief outlines: introduction to advanced natural perfumery, botanical and other natural materials, methods and techniques for developing blends in advanced perfumery, symbolism in natural perfumery, chemical reactions in natural perfume aging, natural perfume design, natural materials in perfumery how are they used to display their characteristic differences and their own personality, aromas are linked like Yin Yang, psychology of natural perfume use, introduction to smell and inspiration, research in natural perfumery, making story – masterpiece, assignments 1-4 (inspiration; geographical region, legend, historic character, colors, music), making natural perfume masterpiece, critical thinking and reasoning in the natural perfumery.
Course pre-requisites:
Knowledge of introductory and working level in natural perfumery
Three samples of natural perfumes from your collection (no less than 5 ml)
Personal statement why do you like natural perfumery compared with perfumery compounding by synthetic ingredients (no more than 2000 words)

Student evaluation:
Case Studies/assignments exam (4 case studies x 100 points = 400 points)
Natural perfume masterpiece (1 case x 300 points = 300 points
Comprehensive final exam (1 exam x 200 points = 200 points)
Total: 1000 points

Introductory / working kit of essential oils
Option 1: Dr. Isidor Academy can provide you with the introductory / working kit necessary for the introductory course which contains: base notes, middle notes, top notes, natural fixatives, fragrant natural materials in dry form and carrier oils. The kit contains 45 pure natural essential oils (each 5 ml / 0.5oz.), 10 natural fragrant blends (proprietary blends of Dr. Isidor Academy) each 5 ml / 0.5 oz.), dry natural materials for your convenience. Total 55 natural oils for perfumery, 20 dry natural material for making your own natural fragrant blends.
The introductory / working kit cost $ 350 plus shipping via UPS.
Option 2: Dr. Isidor Academy will provide you with the full list of necessary ingredients and materials for the introductory course in natural perfumery. Each student is responsible to gather all necessary materials for the course.

The School of Natural Skin Care Products Formulation

Currently is offering several courses:

Introductory course in Natural Skin Care Products Formulation – 18-week course; brief outlines: introduction to natural skin care products formulation, supplies, materials, safety and hazards in the workshop, safety regulations and rules, the skin – morphophysiological traits and diseases, botanical and other natural material, design and formulation of the natural skin care products, evaluating the components for design and formulation, natural cosmetics formulation, natural materials in skin care apothecary, journaling and database in natural apothecary, conceptualization of the natural skin care products, correction of the primary formula and final compounding, financial management, developing business, cultural competency in natural cosmetics, critical thinking and reasoning in natural apothecary, custom order, signature order and formulation, assignments 1 – 10 (making extracts and infusions, making antiaging cream, sunscreen lotion, antiacne lotion, facial skin care lotion and serum, hand / body cream and lotion, high emollients cream, children skin care products, making complex soaps, making potential cosmeceuticals, introduction to advanced natural apothecary, final comprehensive exam.

Advanced course in Natural Skin Care Products Formulation – 18-week course; brief outlines: introduction to advanced natural skin care products formulation, botanical and other natural material, methods and techniques for developing your own complex blends and advanced skin care apothecary, symbolism in natural skin care apothecary, chemical reactions in natural skin care products aging, advanced approach to vehicles in natural skin care apothecary, advanced approach to emollients, advanced approach to surfactants, advanced approach to thickening agents, advanced approach to penetration enhancer agents, advanced approach to natural preservatives, advanced approach in formulation antiaging creams and lotions, advanced approach to natural cosmeceuticals, assignments 1 – 4 (making natural preservatives, cosmeceutical cream, sunscreen lotion), making natural skin care product masterpiece, cultural competency in natural apothecary for signature products, critical thinking and reasoning in natural apothecary.
